ASOJ blames Al-Shabab on journalist’s killing .

Associated Somali Journalists (ASOJ) On wedsday accused
the Islamist radical group of Al-Shabab of being
responsible for the killing of Somalia’s Horn Afrik
director Saed Tahlil Ahmed.
"Mogadishu’s
Radio stations directors and editors issued several
censorship articles which refuses the exageration of the
civil conflict and also the media houses agreed to stop
live coverage of the press conferences held by the
Islamist rebels and support the peace process,"Alasow
said in his statement.
He said after the media houses
decision, the Al-Shabab spokesman Mokhtar Robow
threatened local journalists to death. "the men that
carried out the journalist’s killing have been
recognized ,"
One of the head masked killers was
named as Hussein Farah who escaped after the killing as
the members of Al-shabab were with the deceased
journalist.

Associared Somali Journalists Chairman Dahir Abdulle
Alasow, added that the latest assassination on Horn
Afrik’s journalist was an attempt to fight against the
free media as the radical group of Al-Shabab want
journalists to work on their ideology.
"I would tell the hardliners that they can not stop the
continuing freedom of press until journalists confirm
thier independence without any intimidation and
harassment,"said Alasow.
He urged all the free Radio stations in Somalia to go
off air and make nation wide funeral for late Saed
Tahlil, who was veteran journalist and has been in the
field for more than 20 years.
